Jordan Minyard, a friend to many of us, was recently diagnosed with testicular cancer. He began chemotherapy March 9, less than one week following the birth of his first child, Hunter Gabriel (pictured above), on March 4. Jordan is 27 years old, and has been married to Melinda for 8 years. He graduated from The Master’s College in Santa Clarita, CA in 2005. The Minyards currently reside in Grass Valley, California. Please help support the Minyards through this time of joy and trial by participating in a fundraiser support hike on Saturday, June 20th.

Goal

Our goal is to raise $10,000 to help cover Jordan's expensive cancer treatments, child birth costs, and living expenses during Jordan's 3 month leave from work. While their insurance has covered a portion of these bills, support is still greatly needed to help them get through this trying time so they can enjoy the years to come with their new baby boy.

How can I contribute?

There are 3 ways you can contribute. All donations are tax-deductible.

1. Make a tax-deductible donation of any amount. A $50 donation earns free Nalgene water bottle. $100 donation free JanSport daypack. If you make it to the summit a sponsor will double your donation.

2. If you cannot make a donation, you can still participate and contribute by hiking Mt. Baldy, and a pledge will be donated on your behalf by a sponsor when you summit

3. If you would like to contribute but cannot participate in the hike on June 20th, you may sponsor another hiker (see #2 above) or donate online using the link to the right. Corporate sponsors are also needed to help match donations for whoever summits.

We need to get as many people to the summit of Mt. Baldy as many times as possible! Each person that summits Mt. Baldy will have their donation matched, thanks to several generous friends and sponsors of the Minyards. So, for the enthusiasts: Summit once, double your donation. Summit twice (two roundtrips), triple your donation; three…four times in one day? Those wishing for a more leisurely hike can also participate. The Mt. Baldy Ski Lift will be operating, and for $15, you can ride the ski lift partway, then enjoy a scenic, and far less strenuous, 6 mile roundtrip hike to the summit (2300’ elevation gain). For those attempting multiple ascents, only ascents made via the Ski Hut trail will be compounded.

Tax deductible donations can me made online at thelighthousecommunity.org (link to the right) or by check the day of the event (made payable to "The Lighthouse Community"). Please register by "commenting" on the blog below (see registration instructions below). If you are not hiking, but would still like to donate toward the general fund or sponsor another hiker, please put your name and the hiker's name for item 2, and indicate "General Fund" for item 3 below. For Item 5, put "not hiking."
